Case Study: USA Wrestling - Assess and Improve your Web Site

USA Wrestling

USA Wrestling is the National Governing Body for the Sport of Wrestling in the United States and, as such, is its representative to the United States Olympic Committee. The organization also acts to coordinate amateur wrestling programs throughout the country and create interest and participation in those programs. With a broad charter to provide deep content and up to the minute event information to members on its Web site, USA Wrestling turned to Linescale prior to a major Web site upgrade. The goal of the project; a deep understanding of the Web site visitor experience—likes, dislikes, what to fix and how to fix it and what to add to the site.

With Linescale’s nonprofit Web site Assessment solution, USA Wrestling received:

  • Overall Web site satisfaction scores, grouping users into four distinct segments based on their satisfaction with the website experience
  • Constituent ratings on all key Web site activities and functions
  • A competitive index which highlighted both strong competitors and vulnerable ones
  • Constituent diagnostics on key dimensions of the Web site experience
  • Identification and prioritization of all key Web site improvement opportunities
  • Constituent verbatims to provide further granularity on and support of quantitative findings

Actionable recommendations included specific steps to improve site navigation and expansion of instructional and video content. As important as these findings were, the project brought USA Wrestling closer to its membership base and uncovered an opportunity to play both an increased coordinating role for the sport and also become the central location for wrestling-related expertise—a new role its membership trusted the association to serve.
